As the nights get a little colder in Australia and winter is upon us, nothing beats a warm, delicious, apple crumble. For this reason, we thought we'd share a healthier, guilt free alternative to the traditional recipe your grandma made. We've been enjoying this one for a while and now you can too.
Filling:
-
6 apples, skin on, chopped (or 3 apples & 3 peaches if in season!)
-
Juice of one orange
-
Juice of one lemon
-
2 tbsp 100% natural maple syrup
Topping:
-
2 cups Granola Girls Seriously Nuts granola
-
1/2 cup of shredded coconut
-
1 cup almond meal
-
1 tsp pure vanilla essence/powder
-
1 tsp cinnamon
-
3 tbsp coconut oil
-
2 tbsp 100% natural maple syrup
Method:
-
Combine filling in a pot and heat on medium until the apples have soften (20 - 30mins).
-
While the filling is cooking, combine the topping in a bowl.
-
Once filling is cooked and the apples are lovely and soft, transfer to an oven proof dish, making sure to spread evenly.
-
Cover filling with the topping mixture, ensure you spread evenly to cover the apple.
-
Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 15 - 20mins or until the crumble is golden brown.
Enjoy!

Serving Suggestion:
Perfect with some homemade custard, cream or coconut yogurt.
Trust me, it won't last long!
